Operation requires only 5 minutes per week

Operation of the Standard Turbo System consists of performing weekly tests of the water's copper ion level and pH for both pools and spas. Ionization is only needed when the spa is filled; the switch on the front of the control box will then need to be switched to ionization until the desired copper level is reached. After the initial copper residual, the system switch is moved from ionization to oxidation. The system should remain in the oxidation mode until the next time the spa is filled. Carbon Dioxide pH control is a great luxury on a spa.

Most spa owners may only need to provide ionization with water change out. The oxygen is delivered automatically from the ozone power supply as is C02 pH control.

Pool owners who may be away from their home for extended periods may benefit from the Programmable System. The Programmable System allows the ionization and oxidation cycles to be programmed into the controller, so the cycles turn on and off at the same times each week. Similarities and differences between ECOsmarte and salt-to-chlorine generators

By an overwhelming margin, water treated with the ECOsmarte system is favored by swimmers compared with salt-to-chlorine generators. Water treated with salt-to-chlorine generators still contains chlorine and tastes like ocean water. The quality of the water treated by the ECOsmarte system is commonly described as being similar to 'bottled water'.

The proper operation of most salt-to-chlorine generators requires weekly chemistry testing. These systems normally require testing of chlorine, alkalinity, and pH. The ECOsmarte system requires testing of the pH and the copper level weekly during the high season and no cyanide based stabilizers are used.

Salt-to-chlorine systems normally require a calcium hardness of 200-400ppm. ECOsmarte works fine within a calcium range of 200-2,000ppm. ECOsmarte converts calcium from a carbonate to bicarbonate and is capable of eliminating white calcium scaling in water with calcium levels as high as 2,000ppm.

Since salt-to-chlorine systems produce chlorine, the sanitizing effectiveness of the system is impacted by changes in the temperature of the water, bather load and sunlight. Changes in any of these factors may require additional 'shocking' of the water when a salt system. ECOsmarte's ionization effectiveness is not affected to any great degree by these factors. An ECOsmarte owner does not have to be concerned about doing anything different to treat their pool even if they have 20 kids in the pool all day. The pool water will still provide bacterial and algae protection for a full week or more.
